Horsehead Nebula

This is the latest image of Horsehead Nebula. If you see it carefully it will look like a horse's head and from here it got its name. So, what is a nebula? Nebula is a distinct body of interstellar clouds. Just wait, What is an interstellar cloud? An Interstellar cloud is generally a combination of gas(hydrogen and helium), plasma, dust, and some galaxies.

So, now let's talk about the Horsehead Nebula. The horsehead nebula also known as Barnard 33 is a small nebula in the Orion constellation. The nebula is located just to the south of Alnitak, the easternmost star of Orion's belt, and is part of the much larger Orion Molecular Cloud Complex. It appears within the southern region of the dense dust cloud known as Lynds 1630, along the edge of the much larger, active star-forming H II region called IC 434. The Horsehead Nebula is approximately 422 parsecs or 1,375 light-years from Earth. This Nebula was first seen by a Scottish astronomer,  Williamina Fleming in 1888. The first photo of this nebula was taken at Harvard College, in an observation.
