What causes Evaporation?

This question may have come to your mind many times. So let's get the answer to this question.

To know what causes evaporation, first, we need to know what is evaporation? The process of liquid changing into vapor (or gas) below its boiling point is called evaporation. Evaporation can take place even at room temperature, though it is faster at higher temperatures. The wet clothes get dry due to the evaporation of water present in them. The salt is also prepared by separating water from salt through the process of evaporation. The second thing which we need to know is kinetic energy. Kinetic energy is an energy that an object possesses due to motion. The third thing is that every object has very small particles that cannot be seen by naked eyes. And these particles attract each other.

Now let's understand the process of evaporation. Some of these particles in the liquid have more kinetic energy than the other particles. Even when a liquid is below its boiling point, some particles gain enough energy to break the forces of attraction between them. After breaking the forces of attraction the particles escape from the surface of the liquid in the form of vapor or gas. Therefore, the fast-moving particles of a liquid are constantly escaping from the liquid to form vapor. This process continues till the whole liquid gets converted into vapor.
